This video demonstrates how to set up Python scripting on a computer which has not used Python before.
Did you know...
...that you can use Python scripts in ChemFinder and ChemDraw?
Scripting provides a tool to manipulate molecular structures and/or chemical databases in an automated manner. Two scripting tools are available:
(A) Python scripting: This popular language is available in ChemDraw and ChemFinder. Programmers generally prefer this language because of its power, and because documentation is available in bookstores.
(B) CAL scripting: CambridgeSoft developed a simple language called "ChemBioFinder Automation Language". Scientists often prefer CAL scripting because of its intuitive format and because documentation is built-in to ChemBioFinder.
This video series demonstrates both Python Script and CAL script. When using Python for the first time on your computer, you need to install internal modules for some versions of our software (CambridgeSoft pre-installs Python in ChemDraw Ultra version 12, for example). This video contains 5 parts:
- Part 1: How to set up Python in ChemDraw
- Part 2) Using Python scripts in ChemDraw: opioid scaffold
- Part 3) Hyperlinks to MSDS sheets via CAL Scripting
- Part 4) Math buttons: scripting affecting data fields
- Part 5) Scripting an entire database at once
